Taking up his seduction of Lady Anne, how is he successful here? When Richard offers his sword to her, and offers to let her kill him, why does she not do it? This is a man who admits to killing her father-in-law, King Henry VI, and her husband, Prince Edward. Why doesn’t she kill him when presented the opportunity? Perhaps she cannot kill in cold blood. There might be something to this: it is difficult to take another life – it’s not easy. The fact that she’s unable to take Richard’s life might help to explain how he’s able to seduce her. Why did she go with Richard? Why become his wife? Is it simply his charm? Or, is there something else at work?
