Now Locke does in fact recognize intrinsic value in things, but it is connected to use, that is, the question is how to increase the natural utility of things. Ultimately in Locke even what counts as useful can be odd, because human desires are limitless. That is, while some desires are increasingly outlandish, they are still rooted in nature, even if not satisfied by nature.
